New notebooks are continually being produced in order to meet the needs and demands of the notebook user. HP just came out with their latest additions to the "HDX” group of notebooks with the HP HDX 18t Premium series. Let’s take a close look at what this notebook has to offer. We will look at the notebook’s specifications, the user friendliness and both standard and optional features. Since you have a lot of choices, before you make your selection for a notebook, let’s see what the HP HDX 18t Premium series has to offer so that you can feel comfortable with your decision.
Let’s first take a look at the specifications for the HP HDX 18t Premium series. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 and the operating system in this notebook is Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, an operating system that is finally catching on and is generally well liked by those who give themselves a chance to become familiar with it. The memory of the HP HDX 18t Premium series is 4GB and the laptop hard drive is 2 x 160 GB.
There is a Blu-Ray multi-drive optical drive and Bluetooth wireless capability. The screen is eighteen inches and is high definition. This runs on an 8 cell Lithium-ion battery and is encased all within a clean 17.17x11.26 inch dimension. The weight of the HP HDX 18t Premium series is a bit under nine pounds; 8.94 to be exact. Design, of course, is very important to any notebook user. The HP HDX 18t Premium series has a 16:9 ration display. This means that a user has more room for text when viewing websites and also when looking at more than one document on the screen. When watching movies, there is a full screen view due to this type of format.
The HP HDX 18t Premium series has two hard drive bays, and typical expansion for wireless cards and RAM are all located under a single cover on the bottom of the notebook. This notebook offers quite a section and good amount of ports. There are a total of three USB ports and one eSATA/USB port. Many users do not realize that the eSATA allows data to transfer much faster than a standard USB does. It can be used as a typical USB port and then also as a ESATA if a user has the need for eSATA compatibility. There is also an expansion port which is a docking station connector and an expresscard slot. This notebook also has two audio out ports, a VGA monitor out and a microphone in.
The screen gives off excellent color and view capabilities and seems to be designed nicely for outstanding viewing of movies. The keyboard is of good size with great palm rests; one must just be aware that the very glossy finish on it can cause too much of a reflection when used outside in bright sunlight. To facilitate user friendliness, touch sensitive media buttons are found above the keyboard and they control volume, fast forwarding and more.
There are built in Altec Lansing branded speakers which consumer seem to love. This notebook stays relatively cool during use, which is a nice plus. Taken as a whole, the HP HDX 18t delivers solid performance and a large set of features for sensible cost.
